Palawan is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines. People often come to witness the clear water, the islands and the pristine beaches of El Nido and Coron. Another popular tourist destination is Puerto Princesa, the capital city of the Province of Palawan. It is famous for Underground River and Honda Bay that captured my heart during our first visit way back in 2016.
10 Reasons why you should Visit Astoria Palawan:
We are supposed to check off El Nido in our bucket list for this year. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate. Good thing Astoria Palawan was able to accommodate us for three days and two nights. Astoria Palawan located on a 5-hectare mango orchard in Brgy. San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City. It is 62km away from the Puerto Princesa International Airport (90 minutes drive).

Astoria Palawan was introduced to us when we went to Boracay last 2017. Being a member of this luxurious resort was the best decision that we’ve made. Below are the ten reasons why:

1. Astoria Palawan provides excellent customer service for all the guest

All the staffs indeed practiced hospitality in the hotel. Before our arrival, I made a booking reservation through e-mail. The response was fast, and all my inquiries were answered right away. Upon arriving, a shell necklace was given to us. Warm greetings and smiles were all around as we stepped off the van. Buko shake and Bibingka were served as we had a short briefing about the resort. Upon our check-in, a staff assisted us to our room. And if you want to roam around the hotel, there is a free shuttle that could accommodate you to your destination.

2. Astoria Palawan’s ecological interior design will keep you breathless

One thing that makes me excited about visiting the resort is to see the hotel’s interior design. Behind all the elegant decoration is architect Ed Gallego and interior designers Cynthia and Ivy Almario. They are also the same team behind other Astoria properties. What made it more unique among the other hotel is the environmental materials that they used.

3. Astoria Palawan’s room has all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay

We availed a one-bedroom suite that could accommodate four people & two children. It was a lot spacious than what I’ve expected. Even their rooms won’t make you want to leave the place anymore. I was able to appreciate art even more by looking at the artsy-fancy color, design and the wall painting. Indeed the persons behind this masterpiece were brilliant!
Astoria Palawan also offers wood cabin-type villas, deluxe rooms, and two-bedroom suites. All rooms have either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, separate living and dining areas and all the other amenities like large television, DVD Player, wifi access, kitchenette, complimentary coffee and tea service and a complete set of toiletries.

4. Astoria Palawan prepares food that will satisfy your appetite

Since we arrived two hours early than the official check-in time, we decided to have first our lunch. The reserve is a hotel restaurant located in front of the infinity pool with a panoramic view of the beach. All the food that we’ve consumed for 3 days was really good. Breakfast buffet has the complete set of meals that change their array of dish everyday. Menu for lunch and dinner is the same, but sometimes they also open dinner buffet. And if you want your food to be served in your room, call the front desk to help you with your concern.

5. Astoria Palawan has two large infinity pools

We were advised before our arrival that the beach is currently undernourishment. However, you can take a dip at the infinity pool- The Pod and The Premiere.

The pod is located in front of the restaurant. The pool is jam-packed during the day. Good thing it was clean and well-maintained. Half-submerged loungers were my favorite spot to chill on. And oh! Did I mention about their high-tech shower that you could step on before dipping into the pool? We were so amazed that we went back on being a kid again!

The Premiere is located 5-minutes walking distance from The Pod. Just like the Pod, it was also clean and well-maintained but a lot bigger. We were able to take as many pictures that we want because the place was all by ourselves when we arrived.

 6. Astoria Palawan was the first and only waterpark in Puerto Princesa

Waterparks always bring out the inner kid in me. Upon entering, my heart jumped in joy as I see the brilliant color of the place. All I had in mind was to try right away the Velocity aqua and Vortex slides. The Tumbling Buckets, Mistress and Marine Sanctuary was also a blast. And if you want to go around the whole park, you can grab a floater and take St. Paul River ride. There’s also a buffet restaurant, showers, lockers and a convenience store located inside the premises.

7. Astoria Palawan offers indoor and outdoor activities for both the kids and the adults

Your three days and two nights stay won’t turn out to be boring if there’s a lot of activities opened for you. Our first night was spent at Astoria’s karaoke room, board games, electronic games and table tennis.

On our way back to our room, we passed by a slide, obstacle course suitable for the children and a mini-golf course. Reservation is needed if you want to have your spot secured.
Guests can bike their way around the property and even at the beach on a low tide. And from the beach is a sandbar that is a 20-minute boat ride away. If you wish to visit, there is a separate payment for it.
We also tried kayaking and paddleboard. Better come here early in the morning because it is only applicable during the high tide. It was a good thing that our El Nido tour was canceled. We are able to try all the activities that Astoria could offer. We’ll definitely come back and stay longer soon!

8. Astoria Palawan has night entertainment

The pod gives a different sight during the night. Its bright lights illuminating the water will make you want to go for an evening swim. The acoustic band inside the reserve and the fire dancers across the pod will also keep you entertained as you have your dinner.

9. Astoria Palawan has fitness Gym and Spa

Gym: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Spa: 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Astoria’s Fitness Gym will help you stay on track after all the calories that you’ve gained from the reserve. The facilities consist of a treadmill, stationary bikes, dumbbells, kettlebells and other machines that you could use for your workout. There is also a separate room at the center with television which you could use if you want to play a DVD or do your Zumba. And after a tiring day, the Sun Spa can give you a relaxation experience.

10. Astoria Palawan has a Mangrove and a Halo Dome

Mangrove Convention Center and Halo Dome are ideal for corporate events such as meetings, conferences, seminars, and conventions. It can also accommodate your private events such as wedding receptions and birthdays.
