10 reason why you should stay at Astoria Palawan
El Nido and Coron is usually the go-to place of every first timer tourist in Palawan. Some even visit twice just to witness again the clear water and pristine beaches of the island. Let me mention also about Puerto Princesa’s Underground River and Honda Bay that captured my heart during our visit back in 2016. Located on a 5-hectare mango orchard in Brgy. San Rafael, is a hidden gem named Astoria Palawan. If it wasn’t for our Boracay trip last 2017, I would never knew such a place existed.
We even registered to be a member for 30 years. Imagine being able to go back and forth at this luxurious resort for that long? It was indeed the best decision that we’ve made! We can also use our membership to any of Astoria’s branches (Bohol, Greenhills, Ortigas, Boracay Station 1 and 3) or even their affiliated hotels outside the country. Just by thinking about it makes me so excited!
If you’re planning on going to Palawan, I suggest you book your stay at this resort for a far better experience! BELOW ARE THE 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STAY AT ASTORIA PALAWAN.
1. Astoria Palawan provides excellent customer service for all the guest
Response team was fast, and all my inquiries were answered right away when I made a booking reservation online. Warm greetings and smiles were all around as we stepped off the van. One of the staff even handed us a shell necklace upon our arrival. Buko shake and bibingka were served as we had a short briefing about the resort. Imagine how hospitable they are? Everything will really make you feel at home from beginning up to the end!
2. Astoria Palawan’s ecological interior design will keep you breathless
One thing that makes me excited about visiting the resort is to see the hotel’s interior design. Behind all the elegant decoration is architect Ed Gallego and interior designers Cynthia and Ivy Almario, which is also the people behind all Astoria properties. Did you know that environmental material was also used to made it? Not only do the outside beauty are important to them, but also the quality that comes from within!
3. Astoria Palawan’s room has all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay
We availed a one-bedroom suite that could accommodate four people & 2 children which were a lot spacious than what I’ve expected. Just by looking at the artsy-fancy color, design and the wall painting won’t make you want to leave the place anymore!
Astoria Palawan also offers wood cabin-type villas, deluxe rooms, and two-bedroom suites. All rooms have either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, separate living and dining areas and all the other amenities like large television, DVD Player, Wifi access, kitchenette, complimentary coffee and tea service and a complete set of toiletries.
4. Astoria Palawan prepares food that will satisfy your appetite
Breakfast: 6:00-10:00 AM
Dinner: 6:00-10:00 PM
Since we arrived two hours early than the official check-in time, we decided to have our lunch first at the reserve. Its location in front of the infinity pool with a panoramic view of the beach, will give you a relaxing vibe while eating your chosen dish. They offer buffet for breakfast and dinner (sometimes not), but you can choose from their menu if you just want to eat light. If you want your food to be served in your room, just call the front desk for assistance.
5. Astoria Palawan has two large infinity pool- The Pod and The Premiere.
Visitors usually dipped in The Pod or lay at the half-submerged loungers after their satisfying dish at the reserve. I must say it’s jam-packed during the day, which doesn’t make it a good time to take photos. 7 AM is the best time if you want to have the spot on your own.
If you want a more peaceful and bigger version, The Premiere is the pool for you. We were able to take as many pictures that we want because the place was all by ourselves when we arrived.
6. Astoria Palawan was the first and only waterpark in Puerto Princesa
Waterparks always bring out the inner kid in me. Upon entering, my heart jumped in joy as I see the brilliant color of the place. All I had in mind was to try right away the Velocity aqua and Vortex slides. The Tumbling Buckets, Mistress and Marine Sanctuary was also a blast. And if you want to go around the whole park, you can grab a floater and take St. Paul River ride.
7. Astoria Palawan offers indoor and outdoor activities for both the kids and the adults
3 days and 2 nights stay won’t be boring when there’s a lot of activities opened for you. Our first night was spent at Astoria’s karaoke room, board games, electronic games and table tennis.
On our way back to our room, we passed by a slide, obstacle course suitable for the children and a mini-golf course. Reservation is needed if you want to have your spot secured.
Guests can also bike their way around the property and even at the beach on a low tide. Astoria can also arrange tours for you, but they also have a sandbar that is a 20-minute boat ride away.
Kayaking and paddleboard is also available for free. Better come here at 8AM in the morning because it is only applicable during the high tide. It was a good thing that our El Nido tour was canceled. We are able to try all the activities that Astoria could offer. We’ll definitely come back and stay longer soon!
8. Astoria Palawan has night entertainment
The acoustic band inside the reserve and the fire dancers across the pod will keep you entertained as you have your dinner.
The pod also gives a different sight during the night. Its bright lights illuminating the water will make you want to go for an evening swim!
9. Astoria Palawan has fitness Gym and Spa
Gym: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Spa: 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Astoria’s Fitness Gym will help you stay on track after all the calories that you’ve gained from the reserve. The facilities consist of a treadmill, stationary bikes, dumbbells, kettle bells and other machines that you could use for your workout. There is a separate room at the center with television which you could use you want to play a DVD or do your Zumba. After a tiring workout, head to their Sun Spa for a good and relaxing massage!
10. Astoria Palawan has a Mangrove and a Halo Dome
Mangrove Convention Center and Halo Dome are ideal for corporate events such as meetings, conferences, seminars, and conventions. It can also accommodate your private events such as wedding receptions and birthdays.
